Online applications are available in English and Spanish. Application forms are also available in the main office our campus. Applications are due by February 28, 2027. Applications received after the deadline will be added to the waitlist.

As per our charter, CalCreative utilizes enrollment preferences in the following order:
- Siblings of currently attending students.
- Children of California Creative Learning Academy Teachers, Staff, and the Board of Directors, who reside or work in the LAUSD residential area; (limit to 10% of enrollment capacity);
- Students eligible for the National Free & Reduced Lunch Program;
- Students who are currently enrolled in or reside in the attendance area of Glassell Park Elementary School. Check if this is your assigned local school.
- Students who reside in the LAUSD area.
Please note that if you receive an enrollment offer qualified by one of the preferences above, you will need to provide supporting documents before your child’s enrollment is final. If verifying documents are not submitted by the deadline, you may be placed on the end of the waitlist.
Q: When will the Public Random Drawing (PRD) be held?
A: March 2, 2027 at 3:00pm
Q: When is the deadline to apply for the upcoming school year?
A: February 28, 2027
Q: Do I have to apply online or can I fill out a paper form?
A: Yes, they are available at our school location. Office hours are listed here.
Q: My child is currently enrolled at CalCreative, do we re-apply for the next school year?
A: Currently enrolled students do not need to re-apply. They will need to fill out an intent-to-return form that will be available in March. Students in the 5th grade will need to re-apply using the regular enrollment application for the following year.
Q: My child is enrolled at CalCreative and has a sibling that would enroll next year. Do I need to apply for their sibling?
A: Yes, you must apply.
Q: Does CalCreative give priority to certain demographics?
A: Yes, see the priority guidelines. You indicate if you are eligible for one of these priorities when you apply.
Q: When will we find out if my child received a spot?
A: Soon after the drawing has been conducted, you will be contacted by CalCreative about your enrollment status.
Q: If I am offered a spot, how long do I have to accept?
A: When you receive your offer, you will be given a deadline to accept or decline. You may also be required to provide documents. For example, if you applied as qualifying for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program or for residing in the Glassell Park Elementary School assigned area, validating documentation will be required prior to admission.
Q: Will I get to tour the school before enrolling?
A: Campus tours will be held especially for enrolling families who were not able to tour previously. We will also have a new family orientation before the first day of school. You can also check out our Instagram account @calcreativetoday and Facebook page.
Q: As spots are being filled, how can I follow up on where I am on the waitlist?
A: You can check your waitlist status using a private link that will be provided to you by email.
Q: What is the Enrollment Process?
A: Once you accept your spot, you will be sent a link to our enrollment website with a deadline for completion. If you do not have access to the Internet, please contact the front office (323) 539-2810 for a printed enrollment packet.
Q: If I have two or more children in the lottery do they get a preference if one sibling gets in?
A: We do not offer a sibling preference to families unless the sibling is already enrolled and attending the school before the drawing.
Q: What are my chances of getting an enrollment spot?
A: If your child does not get an offer immediately and is on the waitlist, rest assured that we move through our waitlist and contact families to offer spots throughout the summer and early fall.
Enrollment And Public Random Drawing (PRD) Information
Typically, California Creative Learning Academy receives applications in excess of the number of spaces available. Those students who do not get picked in the PRD for the spaces available will be placed on a waiting list. Students on the waiting list may be invited to join CalCreative at any point during the school year if space becomes available. If the student is not admitted by the time of the PRD for the following school year, they must re-submit an application to be considered for admittance.
Admission is open to any resident of the state of California. California Creative Learning Academy will not charge students tuition and shall not discriminate on the basis of the characteristics listed in Education Code Section 220 (actual or perceived disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic that is contained in the definition of hate crimes set forth in Section 422.55 of the Penal Code, including immigration status, or association with an individual who has any of the aforementioned characteristics). Admission to CalCreative is based on a lottery. To be eligible for selection in the lottery, this application form must be complete, accurate and received by Februrary 28, 2027 @ 3:00 p.m. Applications received after this date will not be entered in our lottery, they will be placed on the waitlist.
